On 27th November 2009, HESILIR co-organized with the Cypriot Institute on Political Research and European Affairs and the Department of Law of the University of Cyprus a symposium on "Sea Zones and their demarcation in Eastern Mediterranean: challenges and perspectives"
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
New Dates
17th-19th December 2009 HESILIR is organizing its annual conference under the (preliminary) title: "INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION ON GLOBAL AND REGIONAL LEVEL: INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN MOTION". The conference aims to detect the contemporary developments in international law, the structure, the policies and the general function of international organizations through vertical and horizontal approaches. Participants will be discussing issues of international politics, e.g. security, developments in OAS, African Union, ECOWAS, Council of Europe, European Union, ASEAN, ΟECD etc. During the conference "Tenekides Prize" will be awarded by the Chairman of the Society.

1873 and Peace Nobel Prize Laureate of
1904 based in Geneva, has
elected during its last session in Naples, Italy as
President Professor Emeritus and Member of the Athens
Academy, honorary member of the Hellenic Society of
International Law and International Relations; accordingly
the next IDI session will take place in Greece.

IN MEMORIAM
Giannos Kranidiotis (1947-1999)
HESILIR organized on September 14th a memorial event for Giannos Kranidiotis at the auditorium of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, honoring the loving memory of the Deputy Foreign Minister, of the Euro-parliamentarian, of the attorney, of the academic, of the friend and the of associate, ten years after his unexpected and tragic death.

INTERNATIONAL LAW SEMINARS
On 12th, 13th and και 14th June 2009 it has been organized the 5th International Law Seminar of Nafplio. The Seminar took place at the "Vouleftiko" building in Nafplio. Parallel to the seminar on 13th June 2009 a Round Table was held on: "War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity and sovereign immunity of the States: The issue of war compensations from the German occupation of Greece; International and National Dimensions".

On 6th and 7th March 2009, HESILIR organized in Thessaloniki in cooperation with University of Macedonia (Departm. IES) and the Law Department of Aristotle University, a two days' symposium in memory of K. Ioannou under the title: "International Justice in the 21st Century - Challenges and Perspectives".

organizing a conference on International Regulation and

GRANTS
HESILIR is
annually awarding the best graduate paper of students of Greek
Universities in the fields of International Law and International
Relations. The evaluation
procedure is assigned by the HESILIR board of Directors to a
competent academic
body consisting of members of the society. The result is announced
every Autumn and the
prize award takes place during the annual conference of the society.
